Picnic Card

This is another card that I made last Summer - a fun little "picnic" card!

I cut 1" squares from both red and white cardstocks. My folded card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" so there is a 1/8" border on all sides. On some of the white squares, I stamped a ladybuy from the Squiggle Ladybugs set by The Angel Company. After coloring them with a red marker, I added Crystal Lacquer for a 3-D effect. Some of the squares are raised by a pop dot, also for dimension.

Speaking of dimension, the drinking glass is made with vellum. I cut a piece and folded it to look like a glass, and colored on the back with a yellow marker to look like lemonade. I bet you'll never guess what the "straw" is! It's a wooden toothpick! I broke some of it off, colored it with a green marker, and adhered it with a glue dot down inside the glass where it doesn't show. The lemon slice on the edge of the glass is a 1" circle of white cardstock. I colored it with a yellow marker and cut a little slit in it so it would slide down on the edge of the glass, like a real lemon slice does.

Ok, so this card isn't very fancy-schmancy. But lots of creativity going on here, LOL! And oh how I'm looking forward to picnic weather!!!

Have a great day, Tootles!

What a great card! I need to CASE this for when I invite others on our picnic playdates this summer! What fun that will be. I love the cup! Great idea on the straw. I used a real straw and cut it down when I made a "cup card" but this idea is even better! I love all the dimension to this card...and ladybugs are always a favorite of mine! I love this!
