Bandana Technique

As promised, I'm showing you two cards I made using the bandana technique. I know I saw this online in a few different places but can't remember now where any of them were for sure. But it's really simple. You know what a bandana looks like, right?

Here's an example of "bandana" fabric. You can see the dark background, black images, and white "doodles" around the black images.

All you need to do this technique on a card is a darker color of solid cardstock (like red, blue, or green), stamps, black ink, and a good white gel pen.

Here's my first example. Both of my cards look SOOOO much better in person. The background really pops!

You stamp a black background. Paisley or something similar works great for this technique. I used "Paisley Rockz" from TAC. Then you use a good white gel pen to doodle around the black images. On this card, I used a white Souffle Gelly pen which you can get through TAC. It goes on light but dries to a very bold white. Then I added some wide black ribbon and stamped an image in the top area using "More Elegant Sentiments" from TAC. I also used a Stardust clear glitter pen to go over the sentiment and some spots in the bandana area. Really makes this card shimmer!

On this second card, I used the stamp set "So Girly Swirly" from TAC for the background and "Tag Tidbits" for the sentiment. The white gel pen is the "White Xtreme Gel Pen" that TAC sells. It's not as bold as the Souffle pen but it does a great job. It just depends what look you're going for.

This technique makes for very quick'n' easy cards. You don't need to add a lot of layers. Just let the really cool background you've created be your focal point. Again, both of my cards look better in person. Do you ever make something that you think looks so neat, you just keep going back to look at it? Every time I walk by my desk I pick these cards up. They look so cool!

Hope to inspire you!

Tootles!
