Paper Ruffle

I have been seeing this "paper ruffle" technique on cards and just had to try it. I gotta say - I LOVE it! It's super quick'n'easy but really gives that "WOW" factor! Look here:

Here's a quick "how-to":

1. Cut a strip of cardstock the length or width of your card. The ruffle will be attached to the back of this sticking out on one side.
2. Place a strip of double-stick tape from end-to-end on the back, alongside one edge. I used Terrifically Tacky (red-lined tape) - it's awesome!
3. Cut a 1" strip of patterned paper that is at least TWICE as long as your cardstock piece. It is fine if you need to use more than one strip - the ends will be easily hidden with this technique.
4. Before taking the red-liner off of my tape, I laid the patterned paper over it at one end of the cardstock and randomly folded back and forth until I got all the way to the other end. I did have to add a second strip of paper here and just trimmed it off at the end.
5. Once you have it folded the way you want, remove the red liner from your tape and adhere the ruffle to it. The reason I wait to remove my red liner is to keep the paper from sticking in places I don't want it to (as I'm folding it back and forth)!
6. On the front side of the cardstock I added some "faux stitching" by using the Running Stitches stamp set from TAC, Versamark ink, and white embossing powder.
7. Now I adhere this to my card using pop-dots below the cardstock strip.

Hope this makes sense!

Oh yeah, the patterned paper I used here is Rustic Chic from TAC and the other stamps are from TAC's "Oh How" set.

Make it a great day, Tootles!
