Christmas Gift Basket

Geesh, I haven't blogged in so long! And well, with working full time I really don't have time to do anything creative so this blog has been pretty neglected. However, I put together a cute little Christmas gift basket for a friend to give her child's teacher and thought I would share it with you. Very simple. Very quick. Very easy. Right up my alley!

I found the container at a thrift shop. It looks brand new and was only 25 cents. Not trying to be "cheap" - I really thought it was cute! Ok, I'm cheap too, lol.

Bottle of A&W Root Beer with the tag "You are AW-some!"

Measuring cup full of candy, and the tag says:

"No one can MEASURE up to you

Hi there! I'm still not doing any stamping, but have gotten back in to digital scrapbooking and loving it! At least my creative mojo is coming out one way or another, lol! Anyway, I started a separate blog where I'll be posting my digital scrapbook pages. It's called Hook'd on Digi if you ever wanna take a look!

Another Card Organizer

I finally have something to show you! I have really been unmotivated to do any cardmaking for the past year or more. I've tried here and there though. Maybe it will come back to me sooner or later.

But back in July, I showed you a Card Organizer (sometimes I call them Card Keepers) that I was giving to my Secret Pal. She loved it so much that she ordered two more to give as Christmas presents. The first one I made is for her brother, so it had to be kinda "manly".

All of the patterned papers are by Colorbok. I used all browns and blacks for this Organizer, since it's for a guy. Do you think it's manly enough?

It will be a great way for him to hopefully remember birthdays, which will be written on the dates. And the cards will be in the pockets all ready to to! It can be used year after year.

Anniversary

I recently need an Anniversary card, but didn't have any in my stash. So I decided to make one just to have on hand.

It's a very simple layout, but still has an elegant look to it.

Here you can see the sparkle and glitter of the embossing powder. Very shimmery in person.

This card reminds me of a car that a church friend and fellow stamper had years ago. WAY back when I was a youth! She had this old Volkswagen Beetle she named Valentine.

This view shows the sparkle and glitter of the embossing powder. And it kind of shows the 3D crystal lacquer I used on the headlights.

This is what's on the inside. Pretty plain, but better than naked, lol!

Christmas Planner

Here's a project I made using a scrapbook page kit by Colorbok from Walmart. It's a Christmas planner!

I made a different Christmas Planner a couple years ago by altering a file folder. I still have that one, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. Maybe I will use this new one:

All of the patterned paper and embellishments came with the Colorbok page kit. The sparkly solid red and green papers are also by Colorbok. The red Bracket Shape Covers and owires are both by Bind-it-all. The white clips, ribbon and envelope are from my own supplies.

This picture shows the dimension of some of the scrapbook page elements that come in this kit. They are pre-assembled and self-stick. Doesn't get much easier than that!

For the inside, I wanted to keep it simple and only include things that I personally would use. So this is what I came up with:

First, an envelope to hold store receipts. I like to keep my shopping receipts all together in case anything needs returned or exchanged after Christmas.

I covered the front and the flap with some patterned paper from the Colorbok page kit. The punchouts also came with the kit.

Next, I included a gift list. It's attached to the page by a little clip so it can be changed out each year for a new list. I created the lists in a spreadsheet on my computer.

My lists have a space for the person's name, gift(s) purchased for them, the price (I usually try to spend approximately the same amount on people), and a column to check off once it's been wrapped. I've been known to buy presents, hide them, then forget all about them. So the "wrapped" column will help me keep track hopefully! Some of my list pages have a lot more lines for each person than the one shown here on the front.

This picture shows how the lists can be removed so new ones can be added later.

And here we have the Christmas Card lists. I can write down who I've received cards from and who I've sent them too as well.

The border stamp came from Walmart, but don't know the exact brand as I tore the package topper off. After stamping it with Palette Noir ink, I traced over it with a clear Stardust gel pen for shimmer, which you can see in the next picture.

The inside does say "Happy Birthday" but I didn't take a picture of it.

Card Keeper / Secret Pal Gift

I've been working on a project for my Secret Pal. It's a Card Keeper!

At church, we have secret pals and our big "revealing" party is coming up in a couple weeks. This is one of the things I'm going to give to my pal. I think she'll love it!

I had made Card Keepers for myself and all the ladies in my TAC Stamp Club back in 2008 (HERE) but this one is much cuter! Sorry friends! :-( I got my inspiration from THIS tutorial.

The front and back covers are made from a cereal box that I cut up and covered with patterned paper. I put it all together with my Bind-It-All but wish I would have had some larger owires. The biggest I had was 1".

There is a pocket for each month of the year with dates/lines to write birthdays and anniversaries on. If you make or buy cards ahead of time, you can put them in the envelopes and even address them and place them in the month pocket where they belong. Then you can see at a glance which ones need to be mailed.

I went through our church birthday list and penciled in a bunch of random birthdays for my secret pal. I cut that part out of my pictures so it wouldn't be any clues as to who it's for in case she sees this!

I also made 12 cards to go with the Card Keeper to give her a head start. There's one card and envelope in each pocket.

I'll be showing you all of the cards over the next couple weeks. The cardstock and patterned paper I used on everything are both Colorbok brand from Walmart. I don't normally like bright colors but really love this paper!

I haven't had any card-making-mojo for a LONG time! And these cards were a real challenge for me which I think is just what I needed to start creating again. They were challenging because I wanted to keep them simple and flat with no bulk. No dimensional layers, sewing, ribbon, buttons, flowers. None of that! Didn't want to make the Card Keeper too bulky or make things that would require extra postage when my pal mails them. Guess I just needed a change of pace!

Sleepover invitations

I haven't been doing much "creating" at my stamping desk, but I did manage to crank out some simple invitations for my daughter's birthday slumber party coming up!

They are supposed to resemble sleeping bags.

I wrote a poem for the insert and on the back side is all of the information (date, time, location, and RSVP).

All nine of them.

I ran the front layer through my cuttlebug for a "quilted" look.

Graduation card

It's been almost a month since I've made any cards, but I did get some graduation cards made over the weekend! I made six of them, all of the same design.

Our school colors are blue & white but I added some shimmery gray for accent.

I wanted to add some words of encouragement.

Long time, no see!

I made some quick and simple patriotic cards a couple weeks ago at our Croppers group at church. I created these for my friend who wanted a stash of cards to send to her friend in Iraq. He can use these however he wants since I left the inside blank.

I used a retired TAC stamp set called "Mini Folk Flag". This is one version of the front.

I can't believe I haven't posted anything for over a month! I am seriously struggling with lack-of-stamping-mojo! I mean it's to the point that I bought a big storage tote to pack some stuff away to get it off the counter in my office. That makes me sad, but I've just had no desire to create anything lately. Just no interest. Hopefully it will come back soon or I will be selling everything. Can't stand it sitting here unused and unloved! I've been struggling for a year but have had little stamping sessions here and there. However, for this past month I haven't even wanted to. I hope it's just a phase, lol! Who knows, with a busy/fun Summer coming up though. And then this Fall, I'm praying for a part time job!!! So I may just be too busy.

I will keep my blog up though. I still get plenty of traffic here for my tutorials and whatever. I will come back with more to show you if/when I make it, lol!

Another River Scene

I recently posted another card made with this River Scene image and scripture stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps. Here's one that I like better though:

I stamped the image with Brilliance Graphite Black ink on watercolor paper, then embossed with Sparkle embossing powder. The coloring was done with Tombow markers and a water brush pen.

This picture shows the sparkle from the embossing powder.

And a close up of the scripture. I love how CDS has so many individual images that coordinate with each other!

Since St. Patrick's Day is this week, Katie challenged us to use the color green as the main focus of a card or project. I just knew I had to use my Clear Dollar Stamps "Frog" stamp set for this one!

Oink Oink

I just love the Farm Critters stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps! It's full of puns and y'all know how much I like those! Here's a card I made using this set:

I used an array of Nestabilities dies, Cuttlebug embossing folder, and punches to make this card and really had a lot of fun with it!

I used pop dots to give "this little piggy" some dimension. I colored him with watercolor pencils and a Dove blender pen. I also added some 3D Crystal Laquer to the mud to make it pop.

Look at that curled scrapper's floss - remind you of anything? Like a pig's tail? LOL

And here's the inside of this card. If I don't decorate the inside of my cards, they feel naked to me, lol!

No, not my last card EVER! But finally, my last card made with these papers and I'm so glad! I'm tired of seeing all these "washed-out" looking pictures. I'm ready for something bright and bold! I better get busy creating!

Happy Easter

Here's an Easter card.

I used the "I Love Easter" stamp set from The Angel Company. And the layout is one I sketched in my little "sketch book". I'd seen it on a blog almost a year ago!

Had to add a little "bling" to this strip. I love these little self-stick rhinestones. OMG, I have a funny story about them - my friend broke her leg/ankle and is on crutches. I gave her a package of rhinestones so her daughter could "bling" up those crutches! Ya just never know what your stamping supplies will come in handy for!

Birthday Celebrations 2

Birthday Celebrations 1

I changed my blog layout so hop on over HERE and take a look-see! Not everyone will like it but I do, lol! Black and white swirlies with a small splash of my favorite shade of pink! Although, I'll probably change it again soon when I find a nice Spring background I like.

On to my post - I have some more cards to show you where I used the same papers as Monday's card. Just trying to use it up. However...I never realized how difficult these pastel colors would be to photograph! I tweaked them with my editing software, but still....could be better.

Enough babbling, here we go:

I used the Birthday Celebrations stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps and a scalloped-border technique that I first showed you on THIS post.

Still loving this technique!

It doesn't show well, but the inside says "Happy Birthday Hope your day is sprinkled with fun" which is from the same stamp set. Cute saying since the cupcake on the front has sprinkles!

River Scene

This is my first time using the River Scene stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps. I LOVE it!

I colored the scene with pearlescent chalks and a Dove blender. Psalms 23:2 sentiment is also a stamp from CDS. I also used a Scor-bug and some Nesties dies on this card.

Butterflies

I made this card with a fun new Beautiful Wings Embosslits die I got from SU.

I also used Nestabilities "Labels Four" dies and some paper, ribbon and cardstock from Papertrey Ink.

I added some shimmer to the butterflies with a Stardust clear glitter gel pen.

Here's another card I made with my new SU Sweet Treat Cups.

I don't know how I got the angle so funky on this picture, lol! Was just trying to get the best lighting I guess.

Isn't it cool how this DCWV paper matches the m&m's perfectly!

I used a SU stamp set on the inside. Complete with a smudge, lol.

Hey there, long time - no see! It's been awhile since I've made or posted anything but over the last few days I have made about 10 cards. So I have several to share with you over the next couple weeks!

I'm in a SU! hostess club. It's the first time EVER that I've been a club member and not the teacher. Kinda nice not having to do all that planning and prep work, lol. But anyway, on my first order I bought some "Sweet Treat Cups" and this is the first card I made with them:

It's for a friend who broke her leg/ankle, had surgery and is recovering. I couldn't wait to put some whale crackers in the treat cup and use this sentiment from the Fishy Friends stamp set by TAC.

I didn't add a lot of detail to the card. I just let the fish paper by Cosmo Cricket do most of the work.

And here's the inside. I used a sentiment from the TPC Studio Faith Greetings set that says "The task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us." Such a great word of encouragement to someone who has a long road of recovery ahead of them and can be easily discouraged. God is that power behind us and He will see us through!

She loved it (and her daughter had her eye on the snack! LOL)

I've had this card done for awhile but just hadn't uploaded it yet. Plus, I'm not overly excited about it. But it is what it is, LOL! And since I don't have anything else to show you, here goes:

I used the Critter Log stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps (which I love!) and paper from My Mind's Eye and Bazzill. Also used my Scor-bug, a Cuttlebug embossing border, and scalloped square Nestabilities dies.

First, a quick update - I have heard from all of my blog candy winners and prizes have been sent out! YAY!

Ok, now the card. I haven't had a lot of stamping mojo lately. AT ALL! This week I wanted to enter two different challenges and normally I would make two cards. But since I haven't been in much of a stamping mood, I combined them into one card. Here it is:

Katie challenged us to make something using the colors red, black, and white (with a little pink if we wanted. I didn't use any even though I love pink.)

Sketch challenge at the MojoMonday blog (MOJO124)
They always have cool card sketches there, but I usually don't get my cards made before the deadline to enter, lol.

And here's the inside. I was going to stamp "Happy Valentine's Day" inside but decided to leave it blank. This card could really be used for lots of occasions.

I used the What a Hoot stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps with Basic Grey Wassail patterned paper, some Nestabilities, and a Fiskars border punch.

Mice Day

I told you recently that I was trying to make two cards at a time, but here's another set that have enough variation that I want to show you both of them.

I used the sketch from Mojo Monday, week 121, for my layout inspiration. The patterned paper is from DCWV and the stamp set is "Mice Day" from TAC. I stamped the images with Brilliance Graphite Black ink on watercolor paper, then used Sparkle embossing powder on top of that. They were colored with Tombow markers and a water brush.

Popcorn Birthday Invitations

I made some custom birthday party invitations for a friend of mine. She's having a carnival-themed party for her daughter who also loves popcorn. She showed me the bowls/plates that will be used and they have a popcorn theme. So here's what I came up with:

Twenty five of them.

Before I colored in the popcorn, my husband says "Are those brains or popcorn?" LOL!

When you pull up on the popcorn, it pulls up an insert that looks like a ticket, similar to what you would use to play carnival games.

"Mom" gave me some suggestions on what to put on the ticket.

One thing I am trying to do is make two cards at a time. I figure I have all of the stuff out, might as well cut and stamp two of everything. It really doesn't take that much longer, and I can give or sell one and still have one to keep. I was hoping this would help me give them up easier but I'm STILL lazy about givng cards. I'll keep trying though, lol!

I usually don't take pictures of both cards because they look pretty much the same. But this time, I made one distressed and one more elegant. Here they are side by side:

I used the "Birthday Celebration" stamp set by Clear Dollar Stamps and the "All Occasion Circles" by TAC. The papers are from DCWV and Cosmo Cricket.

I used some Nestabilities dies to make the shapes and a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the textured section.

This is a picture of the inside. It matches the front and all layers are distressed.

A close up shot of how the umbrella and hat are both outside the circle, and the umbrella is also popped on foam dots for dimension.

I left the inside blank. I don't keep a lot of masculine cards on hand, and since it's blank, it could be used for any occasion.

Home is where the hearth is...

I made this card with a stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps called "Home Is Where The Hearth Is". I just LOVE this stamp set - everything fits together like a glove and since they are clear stamps, you can see exactly where you're stamping.

The cardstock and paper is from the Willoughby collection by The Angel Company. As you can see, I used a variety of inks to create this picture. I'm looking forward to playing with this set again because there are several more accessories to use for creating scenes.

The stamp I used on the inside is from the "Quotes" set by Heidi Grace.

The Cross Paid It All card and a poem

I've had my eye on this stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps for a couple months and finally bought it (along with a few others sets ::wink::). And actually, I am entering this in the CDS CIC4 (Clearly Inspired Challenge 4) which is "Let's Get Bradilicious". Yep, Katie challenged us to dust off our brads and USE them.

The inspiration was free flowing this morning. I even wrote a poem to go with this card. I know, right?! But there are several items on this card that symbolize something and I wanted to explain them in a way that's just as creative as the card itself. So I'll talk about the card first, then the poem will follow.

My little Janome Sew Mini machine was acting up this morning! Not only did it sound terrible, the stitch length was all over the place. YIKES! And you would think since I gave Janome her 15 minutes of fame yesterday by mentioning her as one of my top 3 favorite tools I use in card making, that she would cooperate with me more! Sheesh! I suppose it's not that bad really, but it's enough to annoy me, lol. Wonder what's wrong with her...

I used my Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch for the red border.

I stamped the image with Brillance Graphite Black ink, then embossed with Sparkle embossing powder. I stamped Versamagic Cornucopia ink around the image while the Nestabilities Curved Rectangle was still in place and added three black brads.

I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder for the background on both the front and the inside. Another use of brads here is a red rhinestone brad on each end of the white ribbon.

The sentiment on the inside is another new stamp from CDS.

“The Cross Paid It All” Card
The red drips are for the blood He shed,
for the suffering was only His to be had.

The white ribbon tied up with a bow
is for our sins, washed white as snow.

The yellow sponged ink of course tells me
my light should shine for all to see.

That background full of dots right there
is for salt of the earth, no flavor to spare.

The three black brads in their own row
are for the third day on which He arose.

The two red brads, last but certainly not least,
are our sins cast far like the west is from the east.

And on the inside you’ll find, for my family in one accord,
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Now, if you ask me this same question a month from now, my answers could very well be different. Isn't that how you are too?!

Several of you said Copic markers. I only own two of these (one was given to me, and I bought the other for a skin-tone choice). I'm trying to avoid the whole Copic bandwagon because of the expense and then I probably wouldn't know how to use them properly and there they would sit. Unloved. ALL that money. So (fingers in ears) "la la la, I can't hear you, la la la" LOL!!! Seriously though, I LOVE what everyone does with them, but I'm very intimidated by the technique AND the cost! So I will keep admiring what YOU can do with them! Sorry....just had to get that off my chest....now back to your regularly scheduled programming. ;o)

Here's what the Pink Cat Studio Limitless Limbs stamp set includes.

And here is the Limitless Limbs stamps. The picture's not real clear since they're in a plastic bag, but the only stamps mounted on cling cushion are the trees. All of the little stamps are rubber only. When I used them, I just put a little piece of double-sided tape on a 1" acrylic block and used them like that. Worked very well for me!

This is a close up view of the Plaid Plus stamp set. I thought this set would be really fun with all of the possibilities. But I just don't take time to play with it. My loss = your gain!

Here's a Christmas card I made recently using a Riley moose image.

I stamped Riley with Billiance Coffee Bean ink, embossed with Sparkle powder, then colored with Tombow markers and a water brush. I also sponged Versamagic ink around the edges.

The inside sentiment is computer generated. Just couldn't resist, lol.

Another two-toned border

New-to-me FUN technique!

Today's card features a really cool "new-to-me" technique that I found HERE on Gretchen's blog. I LOVE this - so easy to do, yet has an impressive look. It's the Fancy Two-toned Scalloped Border.

I just love this color combo. The cardstock I used is from PaperTrey Ink. The little background flowers are stamped with Palette Vintage Cream ink which I also purchased from PTI. The embossed dots across the bottom were done with my Scor-bug and Scor-pal.

I used the stamp set "Birthday Celebration" from Clear Dollar Stamps and highlighted some areas of the image with Stickles.

Here's a closeup of the two-tone border technique. The instructions I used are on Gretchen's blog at the link given above. It uses the SU! Slit Punch.

Here's a view of the inside, which matches the front. This sentiment is from the same CDS stamp set.

I made another card using this technique with another GREAT color combo. I'll show you soon!

I knew that meant I had at least one card published so I quickly flipped through and found TWO of mine! It completely surprised me because I didn't realize there were still "unpublished" cards from the bunch that I'd sent them last year (October 2008).

CDS CIC3 "Winter Theme"

I made these two cards for Clear Dollar Stamps Clearly Inspired Challenge 3 (found HERE). The challenge was to make something with a "winter theme". I used my Philippians 4:6-7 stamp from CDS to make these cards. While it's not really a "winter" stamp, the papers and embellishments are. And actually, since many people get so discouraged this time of year, I think these could very well be used as Christmas cards to lift them up!

Life is a Journey

This is my first "Riley" card. You can find lots of Riley images HERE. This Plane Riley was my one "must have" because you can put all kinds of different sentiments on the banner! For this card, I used a sentiment from the Clear Dollar Stamps set called Heaven Bound.

I thought this paper was perfect to go with this image! It's from the Lil' Man & Snorkel Cosmo Cricket Double Deck collection.

Plane Riley was stamped with Brilliance Coffee Bean ink on watercolor paper, embossed with Sparkle powder, and colored with Tombow markers and a waterbrush.

When I saw this paper in my DCWV Stack 6, I knew I had to use it with this stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps!

This is a horizontal gate-fold style card.

I popped the headlights with pop-dots.

Santa

I found this Inkadinkado stamp in the $1 bin at a Joann Fabrics store. It's a fun stamp!

I stamped the image with Brilliance Graphite Black ink, then embossed with Sparkle embossing powder.

I like the snowflakes and rhinestones on the left card, but also like how the ribbon and punched buckle look like Santa's belt on the right card.

This picture shows the sparkle of the embossing powder and I also added stickles to the chimney top.

Through my new blogging friend, Tina, I discovered Gretchen's Inspiration in Action blog. Gretchen has some great sketch challenges, which I LOVE (when I have time, lol!) Here's my card for her IA110 sketch.

I got my Drippy Goo border punch in a HUGE blog candy prize I won a while back from Karolyn. I never would have thought of using it for "chocolate" until I looked at the idea gallery for this stamp set at CDS. Then I was like DUH, it should be a no-brainer, LOL! I can't wait to do more with this stamp set and punch together!

Wiper card

This is my first attempt at a "wiper card". The tutorial I used is found HERE.

And I used yet another new stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps (hey, I've won TWO free sets from them very recently and couldn't help placing an order while I was browsing, LOL!)

Now, before all you owl fans say "she stamped the owls wrong!" Yes, I did. And I didn't realize it until the card was completely put together, LOL! I know they look like they are sitting on their tail feathers. So we'll just pretend (since I added the wings to the big one) that they are just coming in for a landing! ;o)

The patterned paper is from the DCWV Stack 6, which I've been using a lot lately too.

When you pull the sides out, the "wiper" pops up from inside the card.

Birthday card

I made this card for the Mojo Monday blog sketch challenge #113.

I also used my new Birthday Celebration stamp set from Clear Dollar Stamps. Shawne is on the design team for CDS and she posted a tutorial for glittering up the "icing" part of this stamp set. I just had to try it!

I made two of these cards. One without stitching (above), and another that I just HAD to sew one, LOL! (below)

I just love the look of zig zag stitching on cards.

You get two-for-one today because these cards are SO similar and besides that I'm just not real excited about them, lol.

This one is the same except I used Spring Moss cardstock under the ornaments instead of Kraft like the first one.

And I left the inside blank. Just didn't want to spend any more time on them. Do you ever do that with your cards? I'll go back later and finish it.

I bought a new stamp set called Faith Greetings at JoAnn's last weekend when they were on sale. It's by TPC Studio and has several great sentiments like the two I've used on this card:

Let It Snow 1

I found this snowman snowglobe stamp in the $1 bin at JoAnn's and thought it was cute. So far, I've made two cards with it. Here's the first one:

Cardstock: PaperTrey Ink (black card base), DCWV Shimmer Stack (mat layers)
Other: Cuttlebug embossing folder, Nestabilities die, Marvy mega scalloped circle punch, Martha Stewart branch punch, Stardust clear glitter, Stickles, ribbon, pop dots, ribbon.

I didn't do a very good job, but I was trying to show the shimmer from the cardstock and glitter pen, as well as the stickles I added under the snowman.

I punched several "branches" and tucked them under the ribbon using a dab of glue on the end of each one.

And here's the inside, left blank to fill in later.

I'll show you a similar to this tomorrow. Just a few slight differences.

A couple weeks ago, Clear Dollar Stamps were celebrating their 5th birthday. For 5 days, they did a scavenger hunt on their website. They posted 5 questions on their blog, you had to find the answers, and email them to the host. Well, I won on the very first day and won a free stamp set!

THEN..... a few days ago I showed you THIS card that I made for their Clearly Inspired Challenge. Well.....they picked a winner at random to win a free stamp set of their choice. And they picked MY number! YAAAAAAY!!! You can see the announcement HERE.

Another Challenge Card

This card has 5 layers, 5 buttons, 5 sections of the verses.

Think I have enough "5" on there? LOL! It's a pretty simple card though.

Clearly Inspired Challenge

One of my favorite online stamp companies is Clear Dollar Stamps. This past weekend they issued a challenge called "Give me 5". They have just celebrated their 5th Anniversary so this challenge is all about the number 5. Could be 5 of anything, up to individual interpretation.
